Fly Fishing with Big Dries on the Deerfield River

One of 40 trout boated during the day with this young man from Belgium!

Finally! The first few March Browns have been spotted in the Deerfield River. Although the bug hatches are a couple weeks behind schedule, its better late then never. Water temperatures are still only in the very low 50′s around Charlemont, but this will make for some absolutely fabulous summer time dry fly fishing on the Deerfield River. The Hendricksons are dwindling down, but still hatching in good numbers throughout the day. The fish are starting to move closer to the bank in search of larger flies. This is the time of the season that we look forward to; pounding the undercut banks with large dries!
